KTC YOUTH

KTC are really pleased to be operating a youth scheme. Fully endorsed by the British Triathlon Federation (BTF). Sessions run at the same time as the main KTC training session and are led by Liz Parris, a BTF qualified coach.

WHY?

Our BTF qualified coach Liz Parris noticed the massive benefits to her own son when he got involved in running. She wanted other young people to get the same benefit and coaches KTC Youth scheme.

There is so much of evidence out there on the benefits of fresh air and exercise for mental health and well-being. Exercise is also a great stress reliever, particularly during the exam years.

Running also builds resilience to deal with the pressures of daily life; it boosts self-esteem and confidence and provides social interaction and opportunities to meet like-minded people. It can also provide bonding experiences within families. This is a great opportunity to start running which could develop into a lifetime love of sport.

WHAT’S INVOLVED

The sessions involve a warm up followed by a main set and finish with a cool down. The sessions last about 60 mins.

Coaching emphasises the ABC’s of running – Agility, Balance and Coordination. We look at running form with a view to building up speed and stamina over time. The sessions allow you to work at your own level, set your own goals and work towards achieving them in a fun and supportive way. We also teach you how to protect yourself against injury.

The KTC Youth sessions take place at the same time as the main KTC track session but on a separate part of the track.

The KTC coaches are DBS checked and have completed the necessary safeguarding courses.

WHO?

If you are 14, 15, 16 or 17 years old and you want to start running or improve your running times then these sessions are for you.

Maybe you just want to get outdoors and take some exercise with similar aged people and of course have some fun. We cater for all levels of ability and experience – it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that you join in.

WHERE & WHEN?

The sessions take place at Altrincham and District Athletics Track, Park Road, Timperley, WA15 6UA. Every Thursday 7.00 – 8.00pm

COST?

The sessions are free of charge for the foreseeable future. We are fortunate to have secured funding from BTF who are keen to get young people involved in the sport. There may be a small cost in the future.
