Weekly Training Sessions

KTC provides weekly training sessions for all members. Group training is great for motivation and
social benefits, including meeting-up with other members. Sessions are suitable for all abilities
and coaches design individual sessions around a seasonal plan for each discipline with the variety
to keep you motivated, so why not come along and try them! Please refer to the full schedule
below for details of each session by day and discipline. Please use Join-in to register your place at

KTC SWIM TRAINING PROGRAMME 2025/26

KTC SWIM TRAINING PROGRAMME 2025-26

* Note: This is a basic overview framework for a year-long training strategy, based around the usual European triathlon race season and in three phases of four blocks each. Individual detailed sessions will be planned by the relevant coach on duty for that session based around this framework. Coaches will have discretion to change sessions from the framework or on the day. Coaches may also switch athletes between training lanes where required, to benefit group or individual requirements; including to accommodate new or less competent swimmers into a separate lane for more focused attention.

* Note: This is a basic overview framework for a winter period indoor bike training strategy, based around the usual European triathlon race season starting in April/May. Note that indoor bike sessions will by necessity be based around short interval training; athletes will be expected to supplement these sessions with longer, outdoor or indoor, solo or group rides, for best overall training results. Individual detailed sessions will be planned by the relevant coach on duty for that session based around this framework. Coaches will have discretion to change sessions from the framework or on the day

KTC (TRACK SESSION) RUN TRAINING PROGRAMME 2025-26

* Note: This is a basic overview framework for a year-long run training strategy for track sessions. The plan is based around the usual European triathlon race season but also takes account of triathletes competing in cross country events during the winter months. The plan is in three phases of four blocks each. Individual detailed sessions will be planned by the relevant coach on duty for that session based around this framework. Coaches will have discretion to change sessions from the framework or on the day.

BENEFITS OF GROUP COACHED SESSIONS

Group coached sessions provide an opportunity to meet and train with friends and fellow club members, this means, people with similar goals and objectives. Coaches will split groups on ability if necessary and there is no need to feel intimidated or think you will be ‘off the back’. You can take each session as easy or as hard as you choose, based on your personal targets and how you feel at the time; there is no pressure.

If you want to push yourself you can do, and there is no better way than interval training with a group where some are going slightly faster than you on each set and you are striving to match them.

There is also an essential social element with group training, whether that be during or after the session. Many of the KTC coached sessions are now followed by a social coffee somewhere local to the session.

FURTHER INFORMATION ON TRAINING / COACHING SESSIONS

All training session (except Knutsford Runners) are accessed via the club Joinin system. This is so that the coaches can effectively plan the sessions and to ensure that everyone can have a fair opportunity to attend especially with spin bike and swim lane availability.

SWIM

Very often drills will require the use of training aids such as fins, pull buoys, floats or paddles – please bring your own, and PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME!

BIKE

Saturday Group Ride

Time: 8:30am Meeting point: Shell garage, Knutsford (unless otherwise advised via WhatsApp)
Ride distance, duration, route will be advised via WhatsApp and appear on Facebook and will be agreed on the day prior to the ride, between participants, depending on attendees. Please note that this is a non-coached session – * see details at foot of page.

REMINDER:
Please carry your emergency contact details with you; this could be a sticker on your bike or inside your helmet, a card in your bike pack or Medical ID set on your phone or some other way that is your preference, some people have the ICE bracelets etc.

The details you should include are: Next of kin – name & number, Date of birth, Medical / allergies information

RUN

Monday Night Run with Knutsford Runners

Meet at Knutsford Bus Station / Booths car park WA16 0EE at 6.30pm for a group run.

Various pacing and distance groups available from 5k – 12k. Please book through the Teamo app here and select ‘Knutsford Tri Club’ on registration.

THURSDAY NIGHT TRACK

Session time: 7pm – 8pm
Location: Timperley track (Park Road, WA15 6UA)

Lead by:  Matt Mollart
Cost: £4 payable direct to Timperley track, on arrival
