1. How did you get into Triathlon?
I already knew Robin and Rouge from Monday night circuit training sessions and when Robin mentioned the tri club it really appealed to my sporty nature - I just needed to learn how to swim first !!
2. What training do you enjoy and what do you hate?
I enjoy all of it most of the time but particularly the run on a Monday night, there's no better way to spend a summer evening than jogging round Tatton park. The only part of the sport I find difficult is cycling in cold weather, I have to confess I resort to spin classes in the winter.
3. Give us an insight into your day dreams when you are out training on your own?
I tend to mostly think about how amazing it must be to be a pro athlete and get paid for doing what the rest of us do in our spare time. That and winning the lottery....
4. Give us one top training tip?
Don't take advice from people like me ! Get down to one of the structured sessions and listen to the experts - I love the Thursday session with BTF run coach Rob.
5. Talk us through your best and worst tri events to date?
Not too much to choose from but Llandudno sea swim was a highlight since it was my first open water swim (in preparation for Llandudno tri). To enjoy the sunny weather while you're swimming makes it so much more fun. I'd have to forget my bike or be DQ'd or something to not have fun so I've got no worst event - sorry ! (Bala middle distance 2011 would have counted had I been there.....)
6. If you were doing (or thinking of doing) a triathlon for the first time, which one piece of advice would you give?
Be honest about what you want to achieve, give it all you've got, and smile for the photographers. (That's three but what the hell !)
7. What’s your ultimate triathlon dream (e.g. win a race, complete an Ironman)?
I'd love to have a race where everything goes perfectly. In twenty years of amateur sport of all varieties I've never known that happen.
8. What’s your favourite piece of tri kit/gadget that you own?
I love my Garmin GPS watch. Buy one - do it now.
9. What’s your post race indulgence (food and drink)?
After a race I'm ready to eat my own hand. But I'd much rather have steak and ale pie followed by a few pints of the black stuff.
10. Finally, who from KTC would you most like to pip on the finish line?
One of the Potters. I'd love it to be Mike but much more likely to be Lucy.
