Laura Thursby
1. How did you get into Triathlon?
It was a cold January night in 2009, I'd just met my boyfriend who I was obviously trying to impress. I parted with my 60 quid there and then and spent the entire summer wondering what I was letting myself in for.
2. What training do you enjoy and what do you hate?
I absolutely love the swimming but really hate the run.
3. Give us an insight into your day dreams when you are out training on your own?
I daydream about my arse firming up and getting less flabby... I even have a mantra that goes "YOUR ARSE IS GETTING SMALLER, YOUR ARSE IS GETTING SMALLER" and I sing it in my head in time to my steps.
4. Give us one top training tip?
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail... i think that's actually two.
5. Talk us through your best and worst tri events to date?
Best: Reeling in so many in the bike at Tatton
Worst: Doing a "Gomez" (falling over like an idiot) in the run at the same event.
6. If you were doing (or thinking of doing) a triathlon for the first time, which one piece of advice would you give?
Just go for it, you'll love it!
7. What’s your ultimate triathlon dream (e.g. win a race, complete an Ironman)?
To get a sub 1:15 sprint time.
8. What’s your favourite piece of tri kit/gadget that you own?
My Orca Alpha wetsuit that I bought last year at a real bargain price. Sometimes I just put it on and wear it around the house. I LOVE it!
9. What’s your post race indulgence (food and drink)?
6 pints of lager and a Rose and Crown roast
10. Finally, who from KTC would you most like to pip on the finish line?
James Cox
