1. How did you get into Triathlon?
It was last year…for some reason I cant remember, I was already friendly with Robin…and he’d been banging on about doing Tatton Triathlon…even thinking he meant the sprint, I wasn’t sure I fancied it and then I was with Ed Cox in Abersoch and we went for a long swim and I just changed my mind really. Its been great, I’ve got a lot of enjoyment from it.

2. What training do you enjoy and what do you hate?
On a nice nice morning, I love getting up and going for a long run through Tatton Park before it opens and then coming back for breakfast – great start to the day! I’ve got to say that I generally enjoy all my training but a couple of times I’ve been and stuck out alone on my bike in the rain, wet through and miles from home cycling past all these nice little country pubs thinking…oh deary me what the blue blazes am I doing here when right now I could be…..

3. Give us an insight into your day dreams when you are out training on your own?
I’ve never had a day dream. What is it?

4. Give us one top training tip?
Get up early and train while everyone else is asleep, that way no-one can knock you off course with any better ideas…by the time the evening comes, theres always an excuse or something more appealing on the cards.

5. Talk us through your best and worst tri events to date?
Best? Easy…Tatton last year. Perfect day, loads of us doing it, all the friends and family there, everyone really enjoyed it. The atmosphere at the race and when we all went out after was fantastic – a real “feel good” feeling alround!
Worst? Also bloody easy Nice iron man….”the pain the pain..will this ever end!!” And as for that elation you’re meant to feel as you cross the line…forget it…your too tired to have any kind emotion other than darkness and depression. It’s a ridiculous race, borne out of a ridiculous idea by a group of ridiculous people from a ridiculous country! Nah, I jest… once id learnt to walk again… If I hadn’t done it I would have only wanted to so I’m glad I had the opportunity, and I’m glad I put as much effort into the training as I did. I wouldn’t put anyone off the idea if they fancied it. Anyone can do one with enough training but its not an insignificant undertaking and you need to be prepared to make some sacrifices.

6. If you were doing (or thinking of doing) a triathlon for the first time, which one piece of advice would you give?
One you get going with the training you’ll be able to go a lot further than you initially thought. You get a great sense of achievement from the whole process.

7. What’s your ultimate triathlon dream (e.g. win a race, complete an Ironman)?
To pip Jim and Robin on the Tuesday night TT – only by a couple seconds though to wind up Robin.

8. What’s your favourite piece of tri kit/gadget that you own?
Has to be the turbo trainer… for a quick blast on the bike you cant beat it….you have to get the one that comes with Sky plus and a DVD player though!

9. What’s your post race indulgence (food and drink)?
To date, ive only ever craved, garlic bread with cheese, calamaris and Calzone!! Get in!! I’d say a few drinks too, and in theory this is a great idea but its not like playing a round of golf – if you’ve done things right – you’re pretty damn tired!

10. Finally, who from KTC would you most like to pip on the finish line?
Jim Cox, Jim Cox and Jim Cox…I can’t let him beat me (again!). However, I was told by an older and wiser man (Jim Cox) that I should aim for the man in front and so as such…I'm going for Chris Blake…if I can make sure i'm in the same wave I should be able to cook up something machiavellian in the swim!
