1. How did you get into Triathlon?
I got out of a lazy rut by doing some runs for charity and thought "right, that went ok, what shall i do next?". Loving my first year at it.
2. What training do you enjoy and what do you hate?
I enjoy all of it once I get going except for kickboard swim drills - I take ages to get anywhere and I'm exhausted at the end of it.
3. Give us an insight into your day dreams when you are out training on your own?
I guess I talk to myself a fair bit "How are you feeling?" "I'm doing ok" "what's my pace like?" "how much further?" "come on keep going". That and getting rid of the stresses of the day.
4. Give us one top training tip?
Joining KTC has been the best training move I've made. The regular group training and getting the coaching has made a massive difference to my motivation and improvement - thanks everyone!
5. Talk us through your best and worst tri events to date?
Not much to choose from being a novice but my first event takes the honours for both. The gut wrenching nerves queuing for the swim start was horrible. The best bit was during the run when my Cath cheered me on and I just knew I was going to finish.
6. If you were doing (or thinking of doing) a triathlon for the first time, which one piece of advice would you give?
Don't think that you have to go and buy loads of new and top of the range kit to complete an event. Chances are you'll have most of the essentials and they'll do the job just fine.
7. What’s your ultimate triathlon dream (e.g. win a race, complete an Ironman)?
I love being in the mountains (but downhill on snow rather than uphill on wheels) so doing an event in the Alps would be very special for me.
8. What’s your favourite piece of tri kit/gadget that you own?
Lock laces are just ace - so simple, so effective.
9. What’s your post race indulgence (food and drink)?
Burger and chips. Bottle of beer. Lemonade Ice Lolly really hits the spot.
10. Finally, who from KTC would you most like to pip on the finish line?
From where I'm at in the back of the pack I've got plenty to choose from but for sheer comedy value if I were to pip Frazer the look on his face would be priceless!
