PB’s for KTC at Wilmslow Half

What finer way to test the success of your winter training plan than putting yourself to the sword at the Wilmslow half marathon. Sunday 28th March 2010 was a windy and cloudy affair, as 3700 people crossed the start line near Wilmslow rugby club. Ed, Frazer and Nick where representing KTC, although mention goes to  Jim and Laura who were hot footing it from across the pond but never made the start line in time.

Ed followed up his 1.21 at Bath a few weeks earlier with a another fine performance. Employing the drafting technique he weaved his way through the crowds to post a time of 1:18. He’s getting closer to a podium finish each week.

Meanwhile, back in the real race Frazer and Nick were mixing it up with the social and club runners who make these events memorable. At about half way they were neck n neck, united by one common goal: where to celebrate afterwards. Each agreed on The Rose n Crown and the focus was back on the race ahead, and especially on beating anyone from another tri club. After all that’s what Tri clubs do.

As they all relaxed in the pub afterwards, Frazer reflecting on his first ½ marathon and his first social event as KTC Social Secretary. Smiles all around.

With official times posted as: -

  • Ed Cox - 1:18:52 Position 97 (PB)
  • Nick Wennell - 1:33:09 – Position 421 (PB)
  • Frazer Lloyd Jones – 1:35:43 Position 549 (PB)
